Autoclave & Medical Steriliser Supplier in Malaysia
What is the difference between an autoclave and a steriliser?
An autoclave is a type of steriliser that uses pressurised steam. In clinics the two words are used for the same machine; “sterilizer” is the American spelling of “steriliser”.
Which autoclave do dental clinics need?
A Class B autoclave. Dental handpieces are hollow and instruments are usually stored in pouches, and only a Class B vacuum cycle is proven to sterilise those loads.
What size autoclave should a GP clinic buy?
Most GP clinics are well served by a 17 to 23 litre tabletop unit. Count the instruments in your busiest session and check they fit the trays with room for steam to circulate.
How long does an autoclave cycle take?
Typically 30 to 60 minutes for a full cycle including drying. The hold time itself is at least 3 minutes at 134 °C or 15 minutes at 121 °C.
Is a UV steriliser cabinet enough for clinic instruments?
No. UV cabinets do not reliably sterilise instruments, especially surfaces in shadow, lumens or inside pouches. Instruments that enter sterile tissue need steam sterilisation or another validated sterilisation method.
What water should I use in an autoclave?
Distilled or deionised water with low mineral content, as specified by the manufacturer. Tap water leaves scale that damages valves and stains instruments.
Do autoclaves need to be registered in Malaysia?
A steriliser sold for reprocessing medical devices is a medical device and must be registered with the Medical Device Authority before it is placed on the market. Ask the supplier for the registration number.
Do you publish autoclave prices?
No. The price depends on class, chamber size, brand, accessories and the exchange rate on the day, so we quote in writing for your exact configuration.
Autoclave Machine: Types, Sizes and How to Choose
What litre autoclave is most common in Malaysian clinics?
The 17 to 23 litre tabletop autoclave is the most common size for GP and dental clinics.
Can an autoclave machine sterilise liquids?
Only machines with a validated liquids programme should be used for liquids. Many clinic tabletop units are not designed for it; laboratory vertical autoclaves usually are.
What does an autoclave machine need to be installed?
A stable bench or floor space with ventilation clearance, a suitable power socket, a supply of distilled or deionised water and, for some models, a drain.
Medical Steriliser (Sterilizer) Machines for Clinics
Is “steriliser” or “sterilizer” correct?
Both. “Steriliser” is British and Malaysian spelling; “sterilizer” is American. They mean the same machine.
Can I use a baby-bottle steriliser for clinic instruments?
No. Baby-bottle and UV home sterilisers are not validated to sterilise medical instruments and are not registered as medical devices for that purpose.
What is the most common medical steriliser in clinics?
The tabletop steam autoclave, usually a Class B unit of 17 to 23 litres.
Steam Sterilizer: How Steam Sterilisation Works
What pressure does a steam sterilizer run at?
About 1.1 bar above atmospheric at 121 °C and about 2.1 bar at 134 °C.
Why does a steam sterilizer need to remove air?
Air pockets insulate surfaces from steam, so those surfaces never reach sterilising conditions. Vacuum air removal is what makes hollow and wrapped loads sterilisable.
Is steam sterilisation safe for all instruments?
Only for instruments the manufacturer marks as autoclavable. Check each instrument’s reprocessing instructions.
Class B Autoclave vs Class N and Class S
Is Class B always better than Class N?
For wrapped or hollow loads, yes — only Class B is proven for them. For unwrapped solid instruments used straight away, a Class N unit can be adequate and costs less.
How do I know an autoclave is really Class B?
Ask for the manufacturer’s EN 13060 declaration and look for a fractionated vacuum cycle, a vacuum pump and built-in Bowie-Dick or helix tests.
Does Class B take longer?
Usually a little, because of the vacuum pulses and vacuum drying, but loads come out dry and ready to store.
Dental Autoclave for Malaysian Dental Clinics
Can a dental clinic use a Class N autoclave?
Not for handpieces or pouched instruments. A Class N unit is only proven for unwrapped solid instruments.
How many autoclaves does a dental clinic need?
One is enough for a single chair; clinics with several chairs often keep two so treatment continues while one is serviced.
How often should a dental autoclave be serviced?
Follow the manufacturer, but most recommend an annual service with seal, filter and calibration checks, plus routine cleaning by staff.
Laboratory Autoclave: Vertical and Benchtop Lab Autoclaves
What size lab autoclave do I need?
Size by your largest single load — usually the waste bag or media volume per day. 50 to 80 litre vertical units are common in university and hospital labs.
Can a lab autoclave sterilise liquids safely?
Yes, if it has a liquids cycle with controlled exhaust and you use vented closures. Never autoclave sealed bottles.
Do lab autoclaves need validation?
For accredited or GMP labs, yes — installation, operational and performance qualification under ISO 17665 principles, and periodic re-validation.
Autoclave Price in Malaysia: What Drives the Cost
Why don’t you list autoclave prices?
Because class, size, brand, accessories and the exchange rate change the number. A written quote for your configuration is the only price you can rely on.
Is a cheaper Class N autoclave good enough?
Only if you sterilise unwrapped solid instruments for immediate use. For pouched or hollow instruments it is not, whatever the price.
What running costs should I budget for?
Distilled water, electricity, chemical and biological indicators, pouches, door seals and an annual service.
Autoclave Testing: Bowie-Dick, Indicators and Validation
Does autoclave tape mean the item is sterile?
No. Tape only shows the item was exposed to a cycle. Use internal integrators and routine spore tests for evidence of sterilisation.
How often should a Bowie-Dick test be done?
Typically at the start of each day, before the first load, on vacuum sterilisers.
What organism is used in autoclave spore tests?
Geobacillus stearothermophilus, whose spores are highly resistant to steam.
Autoclave Maintenance: Daily, Weekly and Annual Checklist
How often should an autoclave be serviced?
Most manufacturers specify a professional service at least once a year, plus daily and weekly user maintenance.
How often should the door seal be replaced?
Follow the manufacturer’s interval — often yearly or after a set number of cycles — and sooner if the leak test fails or the seal is cracked.
Why are my autoclave packs wet?
Usually overloading, poor-quality water, a blocked filter or a weak vacuum pump. Wet packs should be reprocessed, not used.
Clinic Sterilisation Room Setup: Dirty-to-Clean Workflow
Do I need an ultrasonic cleaner before the autoclave?
It is strongly recommended. Steam cannot sterilise through blood, tissue or debris, and ultrasonic cleaning reaches hinges and serrations that brushing misses.
Can the autoclave sit next to the sink?
Keep it on the clean side, away from splash. The flow should go from dirty sink to clean bench to autoclave to storage.
How big should a clinic sterilisation area be?
It depends on volume, but it must allow separate dirty and clean zones. Even a small clinic benefits from a dedicated corner rather than a shared bench.
Autoclave for Beauty, Nail and Tattoo Studios
Is a UV steriliser enough for a nail salon?
No. UV cabinets do not reliably sterilise metal tools. Use single-use tools or clean and steam-sterilise reusable ones.
What size autoclave does a tattoo studio need?
Most single-artist studios manage with 8–18 litres; busy multi-artist studios often choose 18–23 litre Class B units.
Do I need Class B for a beauty studio?
If you store tools in pouches or use hollow tools, yes. Class N is only proven for unwrapped solid tools used straight away.
Autoclave Klinik Gigi: Memilih Autoclave Dental Kelas B
Cara Guna Autoclave: Panduan Langkah demi Langkah
Perlukah ujian Bowie-Dick dibuat setiap hari?
Autoclave wap atas meja, biasanya unit Kelas B bersaiz 17 hingga 23 liter.
Nyahjangkit mengurangkan mikroorganisma, manakala pensterilan membunuh semuanya termasuk spora. Alat kritikal yang memasuki tisu steril mesti disteril.
Autoclave 18 Litre vs 23 Litre: Choosing the Right Size
Is a 23 litre autoclave always better than an 18 litre one?
No. A large chamber run half-empty uses more water and power per cycle, and an overfilled small chamber dries poorly. Size to your busiest session.
Can I sterilise more by running an 18 litre unit more often?
Yes, if the full cycle time with drying still fits between patient sessions. Ask for full-load cycle times, not empty-chamber figures.
Do 18 and 23 litre autoclaves come in Class B?
Both sizes are common as Class B, and some makers also sell them as Class N or Class S. Confirm the EN 13060 class of the exact model quoted.
Melag Autoclave: What to Check Before You Buy in Malaysia
Where is Melag based?
Melag is a German company based in Berlin. Ask the supplier for the declaration of conformity and MDA registration of the exact model.
Is every Melag autoclave Class B?
Do not assume so from the brand alone. Check the EN 13060 class stated for the exact model on your quote.
Who services a Melag autoclave in Malaysia?
Service is arranged through whoever supplies it locally. Before buying, ask who the engineer is, where parts are held and the typical repair turnaround.
Tuttnauer Autoclave: A Buyer’s Guide for Malaysian Clinics and Labs
Does a Tuttnauer model number tell me the class?
Not on its own. The same chamber size can come in versions with and without a vacuum pump, so check the full model code and the EN 13060 class on the declaration.
Where is Tuttnauer from?
Tuttnauer is an autoclave manufacturer founded in Israel. Ask the local supplier for the declaration of conformity and MDA registration of the exact model.
Should a clinic buy a lab autoclave for its instruments?
Only if the model is registered with the MDA for that use and proven for wrapped instrument loads. Lab units are usually chosen for media, liquids and waste.
Autoclave for Clinic Use: Choosing a GP Clinic Autoclave
Does a GP clinic need a Class B autoclave?
If you pouch instruments to store them, or reprocess anything hollow, yes. A clinic that only sterilises unwrapped solid instruments for immediate use can manage with Class N.
Can a clinic autoclave single-use instruments and reuse them?
No. Items labelled single-use should be discarded after use; reprocessing them is outside the manufacturer’s instructions.
How long do pouched instruments stay sterile?
Follow your clinic’s policy. Many clinics use event-related shelf life, where a pouch is treated as sterile until it is torn, wet, dropped or otherwise compromised, so storage conditions matter.
Veterinary Autoclave: Choosing Sterilisers for Vet Clinics
Do vet clinics need a different autoclave from human clinics?
Not usually. The same tabletop classes and sizes are used; what matters is the load, and wrapped packs, textiles and hollow instruments need Class B.
Can drapes and gowns go in a tabletop autoclave?
Yes, in a Class B unit proven for porous loads, packed loosely so steam can penetrate. Stay within the maker’s maximum textile load.
What size autoclave suits a small vet clinic?
Many single-surgeon clinics choose 18 to 23 litres. Size by the largest surgical pack you need to fit and the number of packs on your busiest day.
Autoclave Tape, Sterilization Pouches and Indicators
Can I fold a pouch and close it with autoclave tape?
Use the pouch’s own self-seal strip or a heat sealer. Folding and taping a pouch does not give a reliable sterile barrier.
Do I still need integrators if my pouches have indicators?
Yes. Pouch indicators only show the pouch was processed; an integrator inside the pack shows time, temperature and steam reached the instruments.
Can sterilisation pouches be reused?
No. Pouches are single-use; once opened or reprocessed the seal and paper can no longer be relied on.
Second Hand Autoclave: Checks Before You Buy a Used Unit
Is a second hand autoclave safe to use?
It can be, if it passes leak, air-removal and spore tests after a professional service and calibration. Without service records and test results, treat it as unproven.
What should I ask someone selling a used autoclave?
Ask for the model and serial number, age, service and calibration history, why it is being sold and whether parts are still available. Ask to see a test cycle run.
Do you sell used autoclaves?
We do not list used units. Tell us your load and we can quote suitable new units so you can compare them against a used offer.
UV Sterilizer Cabinet vs Autoclave: What Each Can Do
Why can’t UV light sterilise instruments?
UV only acts on surfaces it shines on directly. Hinges, serrations, lumens, shadowed areas and anything inside a pouch or under residue receive little or no dose.
Can a UV cabinet dry pouches that come out of the autoclave wet?
No. Pouches must leave the autoclave dry from its own drying phase; wet packs are not considered sterile and should be reprocessed.
What should replace a UV box in a clinic or studio?
Cleaning followed by a steam autoclave — Class B if instruments are pouched or hollow — or single-use sterile instruments.
